Japanese from what you watch

Watch the episode.
Keep the words.

Kiori plays your own video files with a subtitle overlay that marks what you already know, then keeps the words you choose on a calm review schedule.

A calmer loop

Your study stays in your hands.

Watch what you already own, keep the words that mattered, and review them offline.

Watch with a learning overlay

Pair an episode with its subtitle file. Kiori marks known, unknown, and review-worthy words right on the video, and can pause after every line. Playback runs through mpv, a free video player you install once.

Two schedules, one desk

Words you confirm become Kiori cards with FSRS scheduling. WaniKani assignments keep their own availability and stages, and completed reviews go back to WaniKani.

Nothing leaves without you

Explore an episode’s words by frequency and learning state before or after watching. Optional AI explains one word you picked—never the episode, its path, or the lines around it.

Nothing to upload

Your study data is yours.

Kiori never uploads, changes, or shares your media. Episodes, subtitles, cards, and review history stay on your Mac, and your WaniKani token stays in the operating-system keychain.
